Gas Pipe Repair Services

Common gas pipe faults we diagnose and repair.

Gas Leak on Pipework

A gas leak on pipework can be caused by corrosion, a failed joint, physical damage or poor installation. Any suspected gas leak must be investigated and repaired by a Gas Safe engineer immediately.

Smell of Gas Near Pipework

If you can smell gas near gas pipework, turn off the gas at the meter and call us. A gas smell indicates a leak which could be from a pipe joint, a compression fitting or corroded pipework.

Damaged Gas Pipe

Gas pipes can be damaged during building work, by nails or screws through floorboards or by corrosion. Damaged gas pipework must be repaired or replaced by a Gas Safe engineer.

Corroded Gas Pipework

Older gas pipework, particularly steel pipe, can corrode over time. Corrosion weakens the pipe and can cause gas leaks. We can inspect, test and replace corroded gas pipework.

Failed Gas Pipe Joint

Gas pipe joints can fail over time due to vibration, movement or poor original installation. A failed joint can leak gas and must be repaired by a qualified engineer.

Low Gas Pressure

If your gas appliances are not performing correctly the cause could be low gas pressure due to a partially blocked pipe, a kinked pipe or a faulty regulator. We can diagnose and fix the issue.

Gas Pipe Repair FAQs

Common questions about gas pipe repairs

What should I do if I smell gas?

If you smell gas, turn off the gas supply at the meter if it is safe to do so, open windows and doors, do not operate electrical switches or naked flames, call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 and then call us to repair the leak.

How do you find a gas leak on pipework?

We use an electronic gas detector which can detect even small concentrations of gas, combined with leak detection spray on joints and fittings. If the leak is on buried pipework we may need to pressure test sections of the pipework.

Can a gas pipe be repaired or does it need replacing?

Depending on the type and location of the fault, a gas pipe can sometimes be repaired by replacing a section. If the pipework is old, extensively corroded or inaccessible, replacement of the affected section is usually the best option.

Is a small gas leak dangerous?

Yes. Any gas leak, however small, is potentially dangerous. Gas can accumulate in enclosed spaces and create an explosive atmosphere. Carbon monoxide can also be produced. All gas leaks must be repaired promptly.

How much does gas pipe repair cost?

The cost depends on the location and extent of the repair. A simple joint repair on accessible pipework is straightforward. Repairing pipework buried in walls, floors or underground is more involved. We provide a clear quote before starting work.

Will you check my other gas pipework while you are here?

Yes. When we attend for a gas pipe repair we can carry out a visual inspection of your other accessible gas pipework and check for any obvious signs of corrosion, damage or poor installation.
