Emergency Water Leak Detection Across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and North London

Water leaking from an unknown source? Damp patches appearing on walls or ceilings? Our plumbers trace hidden leaks using systematic inspection and pressure testing.

Emergency Water Leak Detection Services

Expert leak tracing to find hidden water leaks before they cause more damage.

Visible Leak Tracing

Water visible but the source is not obvious. We trace the water back to its source using visual inspection of pipes, joints, valves and appliances.

Hidden Ceiling Leak Detection

Water stain or damp patch on the ceiling but no visible pipe. We trace leaks from bathroom fittings, radiators, pipes in the ceiling void or the floor above.

Wall Leak Detection

Damp or staining on a wall. Could be a leaking pipe in the wall cavity, a failed plumbing joint or water tracking from elsewhere. We find the source.

Floor Leak Detection

Damp patches on flooring, wet carpets or water rising through floorboards. We investigate whether the leak is in underfloor pipework or from an appliance.

Boiler Pressure Loss Investigation

Boiler losing pressure regularly and needing to be topped up? This usually indicates a leak somewhere in the heating system. We can trace and find the leak.

High Water Bill Investigation

Unexplained increase in your water bill can indicate a hidden leak. We can check your plumbing system for leaks that may be wasting water without being visible.

Leak Detection FAQs

Common questions about water leak detection and tracing

How do you find a hidden water leak?

We use systematic visual inspection, pressure testing and our experience to trace leaks. We look for the highest point where water is visible and trace it back. For very complex hidden leaks we can recommend specialist leak detection services.

Why is my ceiling wet but I cannot see a leak?

Water travels along pipes, joists and cables before appearing as a damp patch. The actual leak may be some distance from the visible stain. It could be a pipe in the ceiling void, a bathroom fitting above or a radiator leak.

How do I know if I have a hidden leak?

Signs include unexplained damp patches on walls or ceilings, a musty smell, boiler pressure dropping regularly, unexpectedly high water bills, the sound of running water when no taps are on, or warm spots on floors.

Can a hidden leak cause structural damage?

Yes. Persistent hidden leaks can rot timber joists, damage plaster, cause mould growth and lift floor coverings. The longer a hidden leak continues, the more extensive the damage.

Will you need to damage walls or floors to find a leak?

We use non-invasive methods wherever possible including visual inspection and pressure testing. If access is needed to confirm or repair a leak we will discuss this with you first.

How long does leak detection take?

Simple leaks can be traced in under an hour. Complex hidden leaks that require pressure testing of multiple circuits or accessing concealed pipework may take longer. We will keep you informed throughout.
