Conventional Boiler Installation Services

Reliable heating and hot water with a traditional boiler, cylinder and tank setup.

Like-for-Like Replacement

Replacing an existing conventional boiler with a modern condensing model. Ideal when you want to keep your existing hot water cylinder and cold water tank setup.

High Hot Water Capacity

With a cold water storage tank feeding the cylinder, conventional systems can supply hot water to multiple taps simultaneously at mains pressure via a pump if needed.

Older Property Compatible

Conventional boilers work well with older heating systems and pipework. If your home has an existing conventional system, a like-for-like replacement is often the simplest option.

Backup Hot Water

The immersion heater in the cylinder provides backup hot water if the boiler fails. A combi boiler has no backup hot water source.

New Conventional Boiler Install

Installing a complete conventional heating system from scratch including boiler, hot water cylinder, cold water tank, radiators and controls.

Conventional Boiler Upgrade

Upgrading an old non-condensing conventional boiler to a modern high efficiency condensing model. Better efficiency with the same system setup.

Conventional Boiler FAQs

Common questions about conventional boilers

What is a conventional boiler?

A conventional boiler, also called a regular or heat only boiler, works with a hot water cylinder and a cold water storage tank usually in the loft. It is the traditional type of boiler found in many older UK homes.

Should I replace my conventional boiler with a combi?

Not necessarily. If you have a larger home with multiple bathrooms, a conventional boiler with a cylinder delivers better hot water performance than a combi. We advise on the best option during the survey.

Can I keep my existing tanks and cylinder?

Usually yes if they are in good condition. We inspect the cold water tank and hot water cylinder during the survey. If they are old or leaking we recommend replacing them.

How long does a conventional boiler installation take?

A straightforward conventional boiler replacement takes one day. If we are also replacing the cylinder and tanks it takes longer. We give you a clear timescale before starting work.

Are conventional boilers less efficient than combi boilers?

Modern condensing conventional boilers are just as efficient as condensing combi boilers at over 90 percent. The difference is in how they deliver hot water, not in the boiler efficiency itself.

Do I need a cold water tank with a conventional boiler?

Yes. A conventional boiler needs a cold water storage tank, usually in the loft, and a hot water cylinder, usually in an airing cupboard. If you want to remove these you should consider a system or combi boiler.
